Nostalgia

The photo above, taken at the Palm Court Palace Hotel in San Francisco, California, is a typical publicity photo for a big band orchestra in the early 1930’s.  The trombone player up in the right of the back row is Howard “Duke” Lockwood, who is the father of Dick Lockwood (Past President of SJDJS).  More information about “Duke” can be found written in the ‘President’s Letter’ in the June 2012 Delta Rag Newsletter.

Newsletters & Brochures

In the past, The SJDJS Historian took great care in preserving photos, newsletters and newspaper clippings into albums for safe-keeping. Below are a few of those archived newsletters which have been photocopied (as well as can be) and added to this Nostalgia page. Go ahead and download these newsletters, flip through the many pages and have fun looking at all the familiar “younger” faces!

To see any of these items in person, please come on down to the club on the first Sunday of the month and browse through the albums. Typically, our Historian makes these photo/memory albums available for people to enjoy while listening to the great music. It’s fun!
