“The Cocuzzi Trio”

The Cocuzzi Trio

The Cocuzzi couple has taken the classic jazz world by storm. John is a master of vibes, piano, and drums, and spent most of his musical development on the east coast. He has been featured on cruises and events all over the world. In the trio, you’ll get his phenomenal piano voicings and classic crooning.

Kristy has a passionate sultry voice, and plays fabulous clarinet and sax. Her credits include 8 years with Big Tiny Little, 10 years on the Live Lawrence Welk Show, and tours with Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra, Russ Morgan Orchestra, and many others. They bring lyrics to life through dynamic vocal interpretations, bringing audiences on fantastic musical journeys.

Enter drummer Bryan Kilfoil, a top jazz drummer based in Northern California. Bryan has been drumming professionally for over 30 years in the San Francisco Bay and Sacramento areas. He also loves big band drumming, apparent at every set! His playing is consistently complimentary to John and Kristy’s outstanding solos. He swings hard!

Be ready for outstanding music, humor and energy! Don’t miss them!

“Ken Brock and

The Jambalaya Swing Band”

width: 290px; height: 383px;

The Jambalaya Swing Band patterns itself from the great Bob Crosby and The Bobcats Orchestra. The Instrumentation is 4 Saxophones; 3 Trumpets; 1 Trombone, Piano, Bass, and Drums. The Crosby Orchestra consisted of 1 additional Trombone.

Large Dance Bands of Jan Garber, Dick Jurgens, Sammy Kaye, Russ Morgan, to name a few the 1930’s and 40’s bands, generally consisted of 10-14 players. Crosby started in 1935 but didn’t become a “hit” band until he released “Big Noise From Winnetka” and additional “Dixie” selections in 1938. His Instrumentation was centered around a “Dixie” front line or the Piano of Joe Sullivan. Bob fronted the band well into the 1980’s and always was a big draw at The Carnation Stage and The Plaza Gardens Stage at Disneyland.

Jambalaya’s players are:
Saxophones and Clarinets: Mike Young, Stuart Yasaki, Mike Kenney, Bruce Saxton,
Trombone: Ron Wetzel
Trumpets: Mack Horton, Noel Weidcamp, Ken Brock,
Piano: Rich Owens
Bass: Don Hall
Drums: Ed Margolin

Natural Gas Jazz Band

Back: BOB MURPHY – ss   |   CARL LUNSFORD – banjo
  RICH OWENS – p    |  JIM BRENNAN – tuba
Front: PHIL CRUMLEY – cornet & leader   |  BILL CARSON – tb

Now in its 47th year, Natural Gas Jazz Band loves its audiences and the audiences love its versions of traditional blues, stomps, rags, marches and spirituals. This mainstay from San Francisco can claim to have maintained a stable lineup of competent musicians for over four decades with two of the original members still in the lineup.

They have performed, recorded or rehearsed on 2,200 different days; toured in 23 foreign countries, been invited to a total of 104 jazz festivals (including 15 overseas) and six cruises. They have played in such unlikely areas as Tasmania and Hong Kong and were recognized as the first American jazz band to play in Siberia.

“The Creole Jazz Kings”

THE CREOLE JAZZ KINGS

Combining the experience of seven years of steady Wednesday-gigs with a lineup of experienced players, The Creole Jazz Kings come to entertain and dazzle with their well-spiced joyful jazz served hot with a dash of blues. Material includes early jazz masterpieces from Armstrong, Morton and Ellington along with New Orleans revival and New York pop tunes.

Every song, every solo, every vocal comes from the heart. Trumpeter, Bob Sakoi, backed stars including Mickey Finn, Tony Bennett, Sammy Davis, Jr. and Dean Martin in Las Vegas show bands and works with Fulton Street and The Cell Block Seven.

Tom Schmidt, clarinet and sax, played with Port City, The Washboard Wizardz, Mal Sharpe’s Big Money in Jazz, and currently in the show, A Thousand Kisses Deep – The Music of Leonard Cohen.

Wild man Keith Baltz lights up Bourbon Street annually during the French Quarter Jazz Festival and plays with The Devil Mountain Jazz Band.

Kurt Abell is a stalwart at Banjoramas across America; he played with The Cats ‘n Jammers, The Washboard Wizardz, and The Cell Block Seven.

Curiously, The Creole Jazz Kings are also The Cats ‘n Jammer Jazz Band. After The Cats leader, Gene Berthelsen passed in 2011, Bob Sakoi filled in for him and the two bands were essentially the same. Memorializing Gene, CJK occasionally performs as The Cats, including 6 years at an annual Mardis Gras festival in Mazatlan, Mexico and several times at the Sacramento Music Festival. The split personality has enhanced CJK by enriching its repertoire.

DR. BACH and the JAZZ PRACTITIONERS are a fun group of talented and experienced musicians who enjoy playing Dixieland, Swing, Dance, Blues, and Gospel tunes. The band features a Tuba – Banjo sound for Trad tunes, and a String Bass – Guitar sound for Swing.

We have performed at the Jazz Clubs in Monterey, Sacramento, Redding, Stockton, Modesto, Santa Rosa, Pismo Beach, Three Rivers and Fresno. We also have played at the Auburn Fair, The Placer County Fair, the Nevada County Fair, and the California State Fair.

We played in the Sacramento Jazz Jubilee for twelve years, and have been in the Festivals in Modesto, Graeagle, and San Jose. We play Gospel Church Services for several churches from Auburn to the Bay Area.

We definitely are tuned into playing FOR the audience, which means a lot of dance tunes on March 5th.
